We take our responsibility to the environment extremely seriously. We currently use sharing platforms such as Set Exchange to give away unwanted set and props and source things we need rather than buying them new whenever possible.
We often reuse, alter and adapt costumes. We source environmentally friendly materials such as non-toxic spray paints and try to use woods and other natural products as opposed to plastics.
Over the last couple of years we have significantly reduced our landfill using reusable cable ties instead of single use ones, biodegradable confetti instead of plastic ticker tape for Kabuki drops and other special effects, and ensuring we never throw away anything that can be recycled, upcycled or re-purposed.
We strongly encourage our dancers and crew to bring refillable water bottles and coffee cups to rehearsals and on tour, and we ask venues to provide us with jugs of water rather than plastic bottles. Going forward we are always researching new products that do the least harm to our planet, even if it means spending a little more.
We are highly aware that the pressured nature of touring and being away from home can often result in the use of a lot of single-use plastic and waste, which we try to avoid at every stage of production and performance.
